"Cooking classes in Rome take place in an Italian-style restaurant in the center of Trastevere, an old and lively part of Rome that has a lot to offer. The set up consists of tables set out for people to eat, a kitchen with all the tools for the people to cook, and a corner with counters to make pasta. This internship has a focus on Italian food: how to make Italian food and how to eat it.
What my job consisted of while I worked there was to teach other college students how to make pasta and then serve the food. As an intern, I got to try all three of the courses, every time. There’s a starter, a soup or a salad. Then there’s the main dish, always pasta, with different kinds of sauces. Finally, there is a dessert, usually Tiramisu, apple crumb cake, or chocolate souffle.
Chef Andrea is very helpful when teaching you how to handle cooking and also helping the other students that you are supposed to be teaching, and he is always there to answer any questions.
This internship is a really great opportunity to explore Trastevere, practice the Italian language with Chef Andrea, eat authentic Italian food, and make friends with the college students taking the classes there."

“ From Pasta to Passion: My Culinary Journey With Chef Andrea”
Tucked away in the beautiful cobblestone street of Via Dei Fienaroli in Trastevere, Chef Andrea’s cooking school is a warm, inviting space that blends Roman charm with the rich aroma of homemade pasta and simmering sauces. Guests from all over the world, and even college students studying abroad come here to experience hands- on Italian cooking, guided by Chef Andrea’s passion and humor throughout the class.
During my internship, I assisted with everything from preparing Fresh pasta dough to organizing cooking stations before classes began. I greeted guests, explained techniques, and occasionally translated instructions.
Each day was full of warmth and high energy. It never felt like a classroom- it felt like being part of a family meal in the making.
I highly recommend this for future interns to immediately do this experience because you will learn so much about the culture of italian food, while also meeting people you will remember for a long time."

"Cooking classes in Rome is a small space with a restaurant style layout with additional cooking and preparation areas in the space between the two. When I would work there for my internship, it would be student groups, usually ranging from 12 to 24 people.
At Cooking Classes, I did a lot of work. A normal day of work there included preparing the pasta before the groups arrived, teaching the groups how to roll and cut the pasta to the type we were preparing for that night's meal, cooking the pasta and serving. I helped Andrea clean the kitchen and prepared the tables for the next day if needed. With Andrea, we had great communication at all times, and it felt like we were on the same page all the times.
I have two pieces of advice for future interns: be as approachable and engaging with the groups as possible; tell your stories and hear theirs make each class so much more fun. Second pieace of advice: show up Hungry!"

"The greatest time of my life"
"I was blessed to have gotten my first choice at the Rome Cooking Class with Chef Andrea, and man am I so happy I did.
I first started with the basics, teaching various classes by showing people how to make pasta and educating them on the different types of pasta and the different shapes that existed. Soon after, I was given more responsibility and started to clear plates, teach people how to make pasta, as well as some of the cooking in the kitchen! Chef Andrea generously let me take over some parts of the cooking which was so cooooool!
After several times of working there I realized how bad I wanted to work, and every opportunity I had to work and hang with Chef Andrea I took!
I went in with the mindset that I wanted my internship to be a cultural experience, something I could look back on and tell my kids when I'm older about. Something that I could say would always have a special place in my heart. I did not know I would become such good friends with Chef Andrea, but I did and I am forever grateful for that.
I not only learned a lot about food and Italian cuisine, but I learned what it means to live life doing something you love. Something Chef Andrea said to some clients one time that will always stick with me the rest of life is "no matter what happens in life, you need to do something you love and care about and you cannot do something because someone else told you to"
Some of my best memories in Rome come from my internship. The first one was when my friends and the rest of Trinity came and took the cooking class. My friends said it was one of the best nights they've had in Rome.
My intention throughout my time working there was to make sure everyone had a memorable experience, and most clients do! Chef Andrea wants it to feel like the best party in the world. Throughout the rest of my life, I will do my best to make people laugh, and try my best to provide my clients in whatever industry I enter into with an experience that they remember as a party. I am forever grateful and incredibly sad that my experience has come to an end.
Do not change anything, and please encourage Trinity students to take part to the internship if they want to feel part of the Italian culture, and get a full abroad experience."
