“Ottimomassimo” is a childrens’ bookstore located in the heart of the Trastevere district. Their books selection includes the best titles from big and small publishing houses, with a specific attention to the quality of the products. The bookstore also houses workshops devoted to promoting a love for books from a very young age, art and creative labs, readings, small theatre shows and many more fun activities for children of all ages. “Ottimomassimo” is also a small social library which regularly collaborates with schools to promote the love of reading, and it works in a mobile format as well, housed inside a caravan, that travels around Italy to take part in fairs and events dedicated to children.

“My internship took place at Ottimomassimo, a children’s bookstore located in Trastevere. The store served not only as a retail space but also as a space for educational workshops for young children. It was a calm and welcoming environment, with colorful displays, books, and a strong focus on promoting literature and creativity.
My responsibilities included preparing materials for the weekly workshops, helping to organize the reading sessions, stocking books, and photographing displays for the store’s use. While the language barrier was occasionally a challenge, it pushed me to improve my Italian and step outside my comfort zone. Communication with my supervisor was very open and approachable.
For future interns, I would recommend coming in with a flexible mindset, being proactive in seeking out tasks, and using any downtime to suggest new ideas or projects. This internship was a valuable opportunity that allowed me to work in a creative setting and develop skills like adaptability and communication. It also offered a chance to experience working in a different culture, which helped broaden my perspective."
