Founded at Jerry's Sports Bar in June of 2000, the Trimble Alumni Football Players Association was created for two primary reasons:
1) Award a scholarship to a senior football player
2) Honor the actions of an individual by presenting them with the Tomcat Excellence Award
At the first Alumni Banquet the scholarship winner was Justin Guinther.
Jeff McClelland was voted as the recipient of the first ever Tomcat Excellence Award.

The 1999 season was a rebuilding year for the Tomcats, who would ultimately finish 2-8. During that season the Alleycats/Warpigs were formed to practice with the team to increase the look they would get from a scout team. As a result of this, Rusty Martin would write the Alley Cat Review each week, give it to the team as an extra piece of motivation. The September 30, 1999 edition contained the story that created the Warpigs. The prediction was the Cats would win 20-12, it was wrong, the Cats won 28-13.
A man who over the course of his lifetime dedicated countless hours to volunteer organizations that work to benefit and improve our community.
He was a member of the Trimble Local Textbook and Supplies Foundation since its inception in 2001, and served as President of the Trimble Alumni Football Players Association for the past 24 years.
He is probably best known for, however, for his involvement with the young people of Trimble Township.
He began coaching youth sports in 1963, and served as a volunteer assistant football coach at Trimble High School from 1980 through the 2023 season, a total of 43 years.
Through his experience as a player and a coach, he taught young men how to play the game of football, with 20 Tri-Valley Conference Championships, 18 State Playoff appearances, 3 Regional Championships and trips to the Final Four, and 2 appearances in the State Championship Game.
But what is more important is that through his example, as a husband, father, grandfather, coach and friend, he taught these same young men, and also the young women of our community how to play the game of life, and how to be good citizens, and productive members of our community.
