Prior to the start of the season, a replacement league for the MVL was announced called the Valley Athletic League as a way divided the MVL so that teams would play against schools geographically closer to them. According to the original schedule, Glouster's portion of the VAL was M&M, Crooksville, New Lexington, Roseville and Philo. This plan was scrapped when the MVL announced it would resume with a full league schedule and with the addition of Zanesville St. Thomas and Roseville High Schools.  The Second M&M game was a benefit where proceeds were given to the war effort.

Beginning in 1949 and lasting through the 1955 season, Glouster would participate in the “Zanesville Olympia” which was a preview for the MVL.  Teams would play 2 quarters and there are seasons when this preview would occur during the same week that other schools were playing their first game of the season.  This is why most of Glouster’s schedules would only have 9 games.
