OHSAA State Playoffs began in 1972 using a computer points ranking system developed by Jack Harbin

1972-1979: The top team in each region made the playoffs

1980-1984: The top two teams in each region made the playoffs

1985-1998: The top four teams in each region made the playoffs

1999-2019: The top eight teams in each region made the playoffs

2020 - All teams qualified for the playoffs unless they decided to opt out

2021-Present: The top sixteen teams in each region made the playoffs

Originally the state divided all high schools with football teams in to three classes "AAA" the largest schools, "AA" medium sized schools, and "A" small schools. Each class had four regions and the regions consisted of 45/50 teams. Trimble was a "Class A" school during this time.

1979 The state switched to the Division system, with the largest schools being Division I and the smallest schools being Division V. Trimble usually floated between Division IV and Division V during the five division time period.

1994 The state expands with Division VI, Trimble would stay in Division V through most of the 1990s but at the end of the 1990s begin to regularly drop to Division VI

2013 The state expands with Division VII, Trimble would be Division VII that season and play in the first ever D7 State Championship. At the current time Trimble normally floats between Division VI and Division VII
