This is a lesson plan I have created which gets students out in nature. I have had quite a few students who simply love being in nature, and being outdoors. I believe going outside is important developmentally for students, and they certainly enjoy it, so this lesson engages students who enjoy nature, and those who do not. The artistic element of the activity also engages students who are geared more towards that. INTASC Standard 5 is about the application of Content, and oftentimes that means finding ways to keep students engaged and interested with a lesson. This lesson aims to do just that.
Another element of student engagement, is the visual element. In a larger sense, bulletin boards act as ways to keep students engaged with school as a whole. They often create a message for students in relation to particular ongoing events or student needs. This Board Relates to INTASC Standard 5, by providing students a nice reminder to a break sometimes. This board was put up for finals week as well, displaying how the concept was applied relative to the events going on in the school, connecting student stress, and ways to cope with the pressure they feel.
