🔥 Food & Fire Safety 🔥
For an F&B high-risk policy, fire safety is mainly about preventing fires in kitchens and knowing what to do if one occurs.
Cooking oil/grease — can catch fire when overheated.
Gas equipment — leaks or faulty equipment can cause fires.
Electrical equipment — overloaded sockets, damaged wires, or faulty appliances.
Open flames — gas burners, grills, and other cooking equipment.
Flammable materials — paper towels, cardboard, packaging, cooking oils, etc.
Grease buildup — grease around hoods, filters, and cooking equipment can ignite.
1. Stay calm and raise the alarm.
Alert people nearby and follow the establishment's emergency procedure.
2. Stop the source if it is safe to do so.
For example, turn off the heat or gas supply only if you can do so without putting yourself at risk.
3. Use the correct fire extinguisher/fire suppression system.
For a cooking-oil fire, never throw water onto it — water can cause burning oil to violently spread.
4. Evacuate if the fire cannot be safely controlled.
Do not put yourself or others in unnecessary danger.
5. Call emergency services according to the site's procedure.
