I also developed an interest in livestreaming and broadcast setup, where I learned to use OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software) to create and manage live video broadcasts.
Through learning OBS Studio, I gained an understanding of how different audio, video, screen, and broadcast elements can be brought together into one livestream.
I learned the basics of:
π₯οΈ Setting up display capture and screen recording
π₯ Adding and managing camera sources
ποΈ Setting up microphones and audio sources
π Adjusting and monitoring audio levels
πΌοΈ Creating different scenes and layouts
π Switching between scenes during a livestream
π Adding text, images, overlays, and visual elements
ποΈ Setting up simple transitions
π» Configuring livestream output settings
π Connecting OBS to streaming platforms
π‘ Understanding basic streaming resolution, bitrate, and frame-rate settings
π΄ Starting, monitoring, and ending livestreams
π οΈ Troubleshooting basic audio, video, and connection issues
Learning OBS Studio taught me that livestreaming involves much more than simply pressing the βGo Liveβ button.
A successful stream requires coordination between hardware, software, audio, video, internet connectivity, and on-screen presentation.
It also taught me the importance of preparing the setup beforehand. A small issue with a microphone, camera, scene, or connection can affect the entire broadcast.
This experience strengthened my understanding of digital production, technical setup, troubleshooting, and live communication.
Video editing taught me how to create after the moment. OBS taught me how to create while the moment is happening. π₯π΄
