🚨 If You Are Dangling on a Rope / Fall-Arrest System

If you are suspended after a fall:

1. Call or scream for help so people nearby know there is an emergency.

2. Signal to people below using safe, visible means if you are able to do so.

3. Stay calm and avoid unnecessary movement.

4. Remain aware of your surroundings and follow the site's emergency/rescue procedure.

5. Do not attempt an unsafe self-rescue unless you have been trained and it is part of the approved procedure.

6. Get rescued as quickly as practicable because prolonged suspension can be dangerous.

🚜 Situational Awareness Around Excavators

Construction sites have constantly moving hazards. You should:

• Stay clear of excavators and other heavy machinery unless your work requires you to be within the controlled area.

• Never stand in an excavator's blind spot.

• Keep away from the swing radius of the machine.

• Never walk or stand under a raised load or excavator attachment.

• Maintain awareness of where machinery, workers, vehicles, and materials are moving.

• Follow barricades, exclusion zones, banksman/signaller instructions, and site traffic controls.

🪜 1. Three-Point Contact on Stairs

When climbing or descending stairs/ladders:

• Maintain three points of contact whenever the equipment and situation allow.

• This means two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand.

• Use handrails where provided.

• Don't rush, jump steps, or carry items that prevent you from maintaining safe contact.

• Keep your attention on the path and surrounding hazards.
