🕊️ A Call to Speak for Zion

📖 “For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch” (Isaiah 62:1).

For Zion’s sake, there are truths we must never remain silent about. Zion represents the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, a chosen people whose story is woven deeply into God’s eternal plan of redemption. From the call of Abraham to the promise of the Messiah, Israel has stood at the center of God’s purposes. To remain silent concerning Israel is to ignore a central theme of Scripture and the heart of God’s covenant.

The Bible gives us a clear charge: “I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth” (Isaiah 62:6–7). Watchmen were appointed to remain alert, to guard the city, and to sound the alarm in times of danger. Spiritually, God calls His people today to take up this same role—to intercede, to proclaim truth, and to stand unwaveringly for His promises concerning Israel.

This calling is not abstract, nor is it optional. It is practical, urgent, and deeply connected to history. We must not remain silent about the atrocities committed against God’s people, such as the unspeakable horrors of the Holocaust, when silence allowed evil to flourish. Neither should we remain quiet about the men and women of courage who risked everything to bless Israel during her darkest hour. To bless Israel is to align ourselves with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. His promise is clear: “I will bless those who bless you” (Genesis 12:2–3).

Throughout the generations, God has raised up individuals who embodied this calling—ordinary believers who stood boldly for His chosen nation. Their lives remind us that acts of faith, courage, and compassion carry eternal weight. Today, that same responsibility rests upon us. As watchmen on the walls, we are called to pray without ceasing, to speak truth without fear, and to act with love for the sake of Zion and the glory of God’s name.

🏠 Courage in Amsterdam: The Ten Boom Family

God has promised, “I will bless those who bless you” (Genesis 12:3). Few Christians in modern history embodied this promise more than the Ten Boom family of Haarlem, Netherlands. During the dark rise of Nazi power, Casper ten Boom, a humble watchmaker, and his daughters Corrie and Betsie chose to love not just in words but in costly action. They knew loving God meant loving His chosen people, Israel.

When Jewish neighbors were hunted, the Ten Booms opened the doors of their narrow home above the watch shop. With courageous faith, they built “the hiding place”—a secret refuge in Corrie’s bedroom, behind a false wall—where Jewish families and members of the Dutch underground escaped the Gestapo. It became a sanctuary of prayer, courage, and sacrificial love.

By some accounts, the Ten Booms helped save nearly 800 lives. Yet in 1944, betrayal came. The Gestapo stormed the shop, arresting the family. Though those hidden in the refuge were not found, Corrie, her father, and Betsie were taken away.

Casper soon died in prison. Corrie—then sixty—and Betsie were sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp in Germany. Amidst suffering, they clung to Christ. Corrie ten Boom's whispered words that still echo: “There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”

Betsie died there, but Corrie survived to tell their story, reminding the world that blessing Israel requires courage and sacrifice.

🚂 Miraculous Deliverance: Corrie’s Freedom

After ten brutal months in Ravensbrück, Corrie ten Boom was finally released on December 28, 1944. She had endured unimaginable suffering: her father had died in captivity, and her beloved sister Betsie had perished just weeks earlier. Corrie emerged gaunt, weak, and worn from the horrors of the camp, yet her faith remained unshaken. Her release was no accident—it was later revealed that a clerical error spared her life. Days later, all women of her age in the camp were executed. God’s hand had intervened in a seemingly small administrative mistake to preserve her for a greater mission.

Even within the camp’s dark, oppressive walls, Corrie had quietly ministered to others. She had miraculously obtained a small New Testament from a sympathetic prison worker and smuggled it past the guards. In secret, she led clandestine Bible study groups in Barracks 28, teaching fellow prisoners about Christ’s love, forgiveness, and hope. This small act of faith became a lifeline of light in the midst of despair. Barracks 28 earned a reputation as “the crazy place where there is hope,” as God’s Word pierced the darkness of fear, suffering, and death.

Upon her release, Corrie immediately surrendered herself fully to Christ’s service. The miracle of her freedom was not merely survival—it was commissioning. She understood that God had a purpose for her life beyond personal safety. Romans 8:28 became vividly real: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” What the enemy had intended for destruction, God had transformed into testimony, preparation, and opportunity.

Corrie’s journey home was arduous—a three-day train ride back to the Netherlands—but every mile was a reminder that God’s providence had carried her. Her life from that moment forward was dedicated to telling the world of God’s love, the power of forgiveness, and the eternal truth that no human evil can thwart His divine plan. Through her courage, obedience, and unwavering faith, Corrie became a living witness of God’s transformative power, inspiring countless believers to stand firm, hope boldly, and trust God even in the darkest places.

🌍 Sharing the Gospel: A Life Transformed

For the next four decades, Corrie ten Boom traveled to more than sixty nations, proclaiming the power of forgiveness and God’s unshakable love. She authored nine books, including The Hiding Place, and helped produce films that spread her testimony worldwide. Corrie’s message was simple but profound: God’s love is greater than hatred, His forgiveness deeper than any wound, and His faithfulness unchanging. Her words and life became a living testimony, inspiring countless believers to trust in God even in the darkest circumstances. Wherever she went, hearts were lifted, and hope was renewed in those who had known despair.

Her sister Betsie had once told her, “Your whole life has been a training for the work you are doing here in prison—and for the work you will do afterward.” That truth extends to every believer. Our trials, disappointments, and victories are not wasted. They prepare us for service in God’s kingdom. Corrie’s life shows us that standing with Israel is not just historical—it is present and personal. To bless Israel is to bless God, to honor His covenant, and to join in His unfolding plan for redemption. Each believer is called to the same obedience: to intercede, to witness, and to love without fear.

As Corrie herself declared, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
