Reading Guide for Week 1, Chapters 1-15

Overview of the week:

• Vocabulary:
  • Review and discuss connotative and denotative meanings
  • Use context clues to define unknown words in a text-students add one slide to the class slide deck
• Reading Strategies:
  • Foreshadowing and Inference
  • Perspective and Point of View
  • Figurative Language
