Seeking Employment on Grounds
Most jobs that will be listed in these sections have flexible hours. To apply to these jobs, go to handshake and search for them, or go to these places and ask for a managers number. A lot of times the best way to get a job is to ask in person. Jobs are not always posted in Handshake.
- When looking for a job on grounds, the most preferably job would be one where you can do your homework on shift. Some of these jobs include:

- *Jobs requiring Work Study: On handshake, you can put a filter for on-grounds jobs and then another sub-filter for work study.

- Handshake: UVA already apys this software that connects UVA students to millions of companies. You can filter the type of jobs/internships based on year and major.
- WayUp: Allows you to create a free account where you make a profile (just like Handshake) and their team attempts to match your preferences with partner companies.
- Internships.com: Allows you to see postings and connects to your facebook so you can see connections. Think of it as a smaller LinkedIn.
- LinkedIn: Everyone uses this platform in the professional world! You can easily see connections based on multiple qualifiers and can get endorsed for skills.
- GlassDoor: Cool way to find jobs as well, but it also has interview questions. Useful for tech interviews (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc)
- Idealist: If you’re interested specifically in nonprofit jobs/internships, this is a great tool to filter out jobs. You can filter based on location as well.
- The Career Center helps connect students to possible internships and jobs both on and off grounds. They can help you explore different career or degree paths and also review resumes, cover letters, and can give mock interviews.
