A curriculum map serves as a planning tool ensuring all content standards are being taught. Curriculum maps include a general timeframe that the standard will be taught, identification of power standards (or standards that are taught together), a list of planned activities, assessment measures, and a place for reflection. When used correctly, the curriculum map makes planning for the next year easier and more efficient. A curriculum map can be edited to reflect student learning. For example, if an activity does not help students grasp a concept, it can be removed from future classes and a new activity can be created.Â
