Routines

Routines are classroom procedures that help manage a classroom to create a structured learning environment for students. While you should only have 3-5 classroom rules that meets the overarching school goals, you should many routines that meet the needs of your classroom.

Develop your routines before beginning the school year. Think about what you want your class to look like. What routines would lead to this ideal classroom?

There are several routines that are necessary for the functioning of a classroom. Some examples are:

• Entering the classroom

• Exiting the classroom

• Missing assignments/Late work

• Bathroom Policy

• Turning in work

Having set routines will make the classroom smoother and lead to a focused classroom capable of efficiently accomplishing bell-to-bell instruction.
