The Blue Angels

Inspired by the real U.S. Navy Blue Angels, they perform aerobatic formation flying demonstrations with virtual aircraft

They participate in ceremonies, commemorative events, aviation festivals, and special presentations within Second Life

They are recognized for the precision of their formations, the discipline of their pilots, and their professionalism during shows

Over the years, they have helped promote virtual aviation and inspired new pilots on the platform

Importance in the community:

For over a decade, the Second Life Blue Angels have become a benchmark for virtual air demonstration teams. Many pilots have been part of the team, helping to keep the tradition of formation flying and aerobatic performances alive

Each demonstration represents not only skill and dedication, but also the friendship and passion for aviation that unites pilots and spectators around the virtual world

In the real world the United States Navy Air Demonstration Squadron, popularly known as the Blue Angels, was formed on April 24, 1946, and is the world's first sanctioned military aerobatic demonstration team

Originally, the team consisted of three aircraft per formation, a number that grew to four and currently operates with six aircraft per presentation. There is also a seventh support aircraft, in case of possible mechanical problems with any of the other aircraft. They are divided into two groups: the first consists of four aircraft and performs low-speed formations (the "diamond" group); the second group, consisting of two aircraft, performs maneuvers just below the speed of sound, demonstrating the capabilities of the F/A-18.
