A Little Bit Of History

In 2023 the Summer Sailstice's Nautical Exposition wasn't going to happen due to a lack of venue and organiser.

At short notice a new home was found at Erik region, and the new organiser, Lili Squibb, set to work with a combination of great enthusiasm and no experience whatsoever - what could possibly go wrong? - assisted by a small group of dedicated and loyal supporters.

That first event, renamed the Festival Of The Oceans from its previous title of The Nautical Expo of Summer Sailstice In Second Life, became the first Festival.  Small though it was by more recent standards, it ran between 24 June and 7 July 2023.

And...

Nobody drowned.  That's always a nice plus.

And nobody was more surprised than Lili to be asked to do it again the following year.

Since then, the event has been held annually:

• 21 to 28 June 2024

• 20 to 27 June 2025

• This year 15 to 21 June 2026
