The Mysterious Rebranding of MySpace: What Really Happened?
The Mysterious Rebranding of MySpace: What Really Happened?
It's the early 2000s, the dawn of a new era, a new decade, and a new century. The internet, from the 80s, has evolved and grown into something that has never been seen before in history. And something quite revolutionary would change the online space forever; Myspace. MySpace was one of the earliest social networks, launching in 2003 and becoming one of the most popular websites in the world. It was the first major platform to bring people together from all over the globe, enabling them to connect and share ideas, music, and photos. Despite its success, MySpace eventually fell from grace and was replaced by other social networks. But, most don't know that after the sudden demise of MySpace, the website rebranded. Many cite that the fall of MySpace was due to its heavy competition with Facebook and Twitter, which grew in popularity by the end of the decade, and its inability to “keep up with the times”. However, my belief is that a number of other factors may have led to its downfall and its rebranding. Today, MySpace still holds an increasing legacy in our online space.
