Directions around the Realm
Note: One thing you'll eventually come to notice is that most major cities are symmetrical in layout in some way shape or form, either cubes or diamonds or similar geometrical shapes, usually (but not always) with equal amounts of directions from corner to corner or various paths through the towns.
Most of these directions I've either committed entirely to memory, or at the very least have remembered them as "go this general direction until this landmark" or go 'all this direction'. It's usually the easiest way to attempt to memorize them is by breaking them down into smaller pieces and linking them via the various landmarks along the way. I've broken them down both into cut & paste style zMUD directions or broken it down into the number of steps of each direction along a path for those with good memories. I'd highly advise making sure you learn how to move around the game in "brief" mode (which only shows a room name and it's exits) as many experienced players navigate this way via landmarks and room names, and playing in "verbose" mode is only really for exploring areas by seeking out clues among room descriptions and solving quests.
