If you wanted a luxury car in the 80s, one of the cars you'd probably be looking at would be the Takeda Takara EL. Although Takeda might be known most for its trucks and SUVs, it has made its fair share of notable cars, the Takara included.
The EL is highest trim of the Takara and came with plenty of chrome and an uprated interior, and if this car doesn't scream 80s luxury car I honestly don't know what else will. It definitely looks very nice and fits in with cars of its era with its angular body lines and a large grille. The headlights and hubcaps are also quite stylish even today, not too shabby for a car that first debuted in 1978.
The interior, although better than other workshop cars, is quite spartan, which honestly can be expected from a car that's only 299 bricks. The boxy design of the car makes it very spacious though, so it's easy to get comfortable, relax, and crack a cold one with your friends.
Popping hood reveals a V2 engine, which, although not so powerful isn't exactly a problem considering the fact this is a luxury car. However, don't expect it to get you anywhere fast, as the Takara took 2 minutes and 12 seconds to lap our test track, not to mention the number of times we spun out due to the car's not-exactly precise handling.
In conclusion, the Takara is a car that won't get you anywhere fast, but at least you'll be arriving in comfort and style.
Score:
Low-brick factor: 9 - Although not the lowest brick car of its type, the Takara has a very respectable brick count considering the detail it has and will do fine in most servers.
Cool factor: 8 - Not the coolest car, especially compared to many modern cars, however its design will still be turning heads even today.
Fun factor: 7 - It's not fast but will be enough to seat your friends or family with comfort to spare.
Practicality: 8 - Only seats 4 and doesn't have the most storage space of a sedan but is more than good enough for use as a daily.
Driving: 8 - The car is pretty slow and sluggish, but it'll do your morning commute just fine.
Overall: 8.0
