In the aftermath of the three-wheeler challenge, the workshop is now full of great three-wheeled cars. In this article, we review 10 of them for you to try and check out.
The Defiant Dove is definitely the most “normal” looking car on this list, perfect when you need the fun of a three-wheeler without having to stand out from the crowd too much. It’s one of the most spacious three-wheelers out there with its conventional 2-box design with a hatchback, perfect for storing all your melons.
Though a bit slow, the Dove handles much like a normal car, however the rear has a noticeable tendency to slip out - perfect for drifters, but the average folk might want an additional flap or two to help with making the normal commute more manageable.
The Helander Trenchbug is a very nice car for enjoying the 80s with three wheels. It has a very unique angular design, and is also spacious enough for storing most of your melons.
However, potential daily drivers of the Trenchbug might want to know that it has a tendency to go onto 2 wheels, which coupled with its soft suspension makes it more prone to rollovers. Driver discretion is advised!
Based off the Morgan 3-Wheeler, the ZTM 3W is a speedy classic styled car with its top speed of 193kph. It even comes with an electric version, called the E3W, although that only has a top speed of 146kph.
Speed aside, the 3W and the E3W both look nice and classic, but still perform very good on the track with their single-driven rear wheel, though their larger turning radius should be taken into account when cornering.
Now for something different - a police car! Despite its name, the LCV Interceptor definitely won't stand up to the rigors of a police chase, however the Interceptor's decent handling and suitable top speed (which you would not want to reach) is more than suitable for short patrols and parking enforcement. With a small, covered cabin and a decently large pickup bed, most police departments will find it quite a useful small car.
Most officers might want to put a few cones in the back though, as this car is, like many other three wheeler cars, very top heavy and has a very soft suspension prone to bottoming out.
A car that doesn't need any introduction, the Reliant Robin is probably most famous for its appearance in Top Gear and Mr Bean (Though that one is actually a Reliant Regal).
Contrary to popular belief, the Robin is a well handling car, and this is no exception. If it was a good car for everyone who bought it during its 30 year production run it should be good enough for you.
The Releo TBS is a car with a top speed too fast for its own good, probably a better widowmaker than even the 911. We've already done a review for this vehicle, which can be found here.
In summary, the TBS is a futuristic and decently handling car that's a lot of fun and still has some practicality. It's definitely the 3 wheeler to buy if you like having track days with your friends.
Unfortunately this submission for the 3-wheeler challenge was removed because it was a copy of one of Cheko's creations. Sorry for inconvenience.
Back when cars were still round and occupant safety was nowhere to be seen, TAC released the Threeler, and true to its name it is quite a thriller to drive. Although the car doesn't accelerate fast, the back does like to slip out, again great for drifters, not so much when you're transporting melons.
Other than that, the car has a nice American look, and is quite a good daily if you handle it right.
Another vehicle that looks like it had just come off the showroom floor, the H Motors TR3 is yet another fast and futuristic 3 wheeler. While it might not be the most practical of the 3 wheelers, it does come with many cutting edge features.
It even tilts while turning, presumably for driver comfort and extra stability, although it still does like to kick out in the back a bit much. All in all, the TR3 is another 3 wheeler that will feel at home racing on a track.
And now for something completely different, the Boyd-CAT Terragator! It's a 3 wheeled tractor suitable for all kinds of farm work, although the one here sprays pesticide. Its 3 wheeled design allows it to have minimal impact on the field below, ensuring the land stays damage free.
The Terragator is surprisingly well handling, and can navigate bumpy fields without much trouble, definitely a must-have for any farm.
How does "two wheels" sound? Introducing the Dove Gyro-car, based off the real life Gyro-x.
Despite its unstable and sausage-y look, the car does actually have stabilizers when not in use, and even with its scary amount of list while turning, it is still very stable, not once flipping while driving. It probably shouldn't be your first choice for a daily, but will do a solid job if it is.
Want a 3 wheeler without the... uhh... 3 wheels? Then check out the Helander Trenchbug Diora, which is the 4 wheeled version of the Helander Trenchbug.
It handles much better than the standard Trenchbug, a solid deal for anyone looking for a small 80s hatchback.
That concludes our list of 10 three-wheelers, he hope you enjoy!
All the vehicle titles are hyperlinked so if you are interested in any of these vehicles, they are available on the workshop.
This is by far our longest article, huge thanks to Snow for writing this one!
