Works with Alexa

Basic service allows integration with Amazon Alexa using compatible Echo devices. Don’t feel like getting off the couch? Ask Alexa to arm your system for you.

ALWAYS verify that Alexa actually armed your system if you do not immediately know if your system armed - say "Alexa, ask Honeywell: Is my security system armed?"

Alexa cannot (a) disarm your Alarm System, (b) silence Alarm or Check/Trouble Conditions or (c) Reset the Alarm System - instead you would need to use the Total Connect mobile app or system Keypad. For multi-location accounts, only a single location is supported. When using Alexa, the Total Connect Events Log will show the user as whoever linking their Total Connect user name & password to the Alexa Skill.

Notes

Cameras - Remote Viewing & Cloud storage

Video cameras require High-Speed Internet service and good signals at Wireless Cameras (we suggest Cable Internet or Fiber Optic Internet instead of DSL). Follow these steps to conduct a speed test for your WiFi network for WiFi Video Cameras:

    • Download one of the following apps: Android Speed Test App -or- iOS Speed Test App.
    • Place your smartphone next to where your WiFi Camera will be installed (make sure your doors & windows are closed).
    • Tap “Begin Test”.
    • Record the values for “Download” and “Upload” speed.
    • WiFi Video Cameras will require Upload & Download Speed as shown in specifications above. If you are below this speed level, increase your bandwidth/connection speeds with your Internet Service Provider and/or create a WiFi Mesh System (see information below in "A few notes about WiFi".

A few notes about WiFi

    • Thoroughbred Alarm Systems does not sell, install or provide support for WiFi systems.
    • When power goes out for your router, sometimes a manual reset/reboot is required - this Reset Plug will cycle power through your router every five minutes until service returns.
    • Depending on your environment, you may find a need to create a WiFi Mesh network with multiple access points (which works much better than an extender/repeater) to speed up internet access for your WiFi devices or increase WiFi signal to devices on your network - cameras may need this. Select here for systems designed to saturate your home with WiFi.
    • Device WiFi frequency band must match your WiFi Network System frequency band availability (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz) and extension (B/G/N, etc.).
    • Review Cybersecurity Best Practices for installing and configuring products, devices and systems (published by Consumer Technology Association).
    • It is recommend that you do not use services on a mobile device that has a “jail broken” or “rooted” operating system, as this can potentially allow other applications to circumvent security features on your mobile device. Any use of such mobile devices is at your own risk.
    • It is recommended not to use public WiFi when accessing devices that are directly connected to your security.
