Training Requirements

REQUIRED TRAINING to obtain READ qualification: 

• An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (IS-700) 

• An Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS-100)

•  Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (ICS-200) 

• Resource Advisor, Fireline (M-280)

• WCT needed: none

• There is no task book for this position, new responders will serve as a Trainee and ensure they get ICS-225 Performance Ratings for incidents worked, once a qualified trainer evaluates the responder as ready for certification, then turn in the ICS-225's to your training officer and request a review for qualification.

• Firefighter Training (S-130)

• Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service (L-180)  

• Resource Advisor, Fireline (M-280)

• WCT needed: Moderate

• Completion and Certification of NWCG Position Task Book for Resource Advisor, Fireline (REAF), PMS 311-112 

Resource Advisor, Coordinator (REAC) (USFS only)

REQUIRED TRAINING:

• National Response Framework, An Introduction (IS-800)

• Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents (ICS-300)

• Firefighter Training (S-130)

• Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190)

• Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Satisfactory performance as an Archaeologist (ARCH)

• OR

• Satisfactory performance as a Resource Advisor (READ)

• OR

• Satisfactory performance as a Resource Advisor, Fireline (REAF)

PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVEL:

Light

Burned Area Emergency Response (BAES)

REQUIRED TRAINING to obtain Burned Area Emergency Response qualifications:

• An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (IS-700) 

• An Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS-100)
