Why is updating fire experience important? A responder’s incident experience establishes prerequisite position experience for upward progression in the organization, updates currency, and provides the responder with a permanent record of qualification incident experience over time. The experience record is also used when documenting Position Task Book evaluations. All positions in IQCS have currency requirements with maximum time allowed for maintaining currency having been established by agency policy. Currency for a position can be maintained by successful performance in that position within the given time frame, or successful performance in positions identified in the NWCG PMS 310-1, FSFAQG, IPQG, the Federal Wildland Fire Qualifications Supplement.
Every responder needs to turn in an update form, even if you did not participate this year. This form tells us you want to continue to be a fire responder and receive a red card next season.
IQCS Experience update forms should only be turned in once a year. Submissions are due by November 30th, to your training officer. Some Units have Sub-Unit Training Officers (see list below), please turn your form into the correct TO.
