Let's make Long Johns cool again by Oana Sirbu
Long johns (Ro: izmene) have a place of their own in Romanian culture. Oana Sirbu designed her Sustainique mentorship project around the revival of the idea of long johns from a double perspective: a conceptual and material one. As she explained: more than mere underwear, these izmene are a dialogue between body and nature- pure silk, timeless elegance and efforless comfort. Free from synthetics, rooted in history and crafted with sustainability in mind, they offer warmth in the cold, coolness in the heat and a quiet luxury that needs no compromise.' With this statement there's nothing else to do than to try them on!

Suncape by Ioana Macovei/Ciuciulica
The Hemp SunCape provides an innovative solution to what already emerged as one of the main climate challenges of tomorrow: protecting our skin from the damaging rays of sun.
Ioana Macovei/Ciuculica departed from this identified need to imagine a solution that is both functional and aesthetic at the same time and can offer protection during the hot summer days, while letting the skin breathe. The sun cape is woven on a traditional loom using Romanian hemp and coton fibers. Ideated for tomorrow's stylish women in career, the sun cape is the perfect combination between sustainability, minimalism and innovativeness.

The team composed of Limira, Alexandra and Ioana got together to ideate the new ECRU handbag, a statement of environmental responsibility and ethical fashion, created from recycled wool. The handbag blends traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainability and conveys a breeze of colour and summer feeling to every outfit.

Contemporary Handbag by Gabriela Tamasdan and Maria Cresuleac
The team composed of Gabriela and Maria ideated and prototyped a model of bag made from nettle fibers and stingray leather. The bag blends carefully designed functionality with modernity in a unique model where plant-based materials meet animal waste resources. Driven by their search for 0 waste, Maria and Gabriela have used the stingray leftovers to create a necklace, which drastically reduced their impact on the environement.

Nettlemyra is an armour-like costume for tomorrow's wearer living in symbiosis with nature. Developed through a speculative process through which the designer Maria Cernescu Popa imagined a future scenario of a planet in desperate need for 0 waste, the costume combines nettle fiber and amadou in a design that goes back to our roots: it recalls nature in both the choice of materials, design and waste-reducing creation process.

Belt in Nature by Andreea Cioata
Imagine a belt that blends tribal boho aesthetics with sustainable textile innovations like fish skin and mushroom leather and an environmentally responsible approach. Belt in Nature was ideated and prototyped by Andreea Cioata in the frame of the Sustainique mentoring program. Due to its modular design, the belt can we born in various combinations as a statement piece.
