Excel Accessibility

Basic Excel document accessibility has a lot of overlap with general data table accessibility standards (i.e. identifying row and column headers and avoiding blank cells) but more complex documents that might include images, charts, and graphs need to be properly described. Whenever possible, table layouts should be basic and they should always be clearly defined. Additionally, avoid leaving in blank pages.

Run the Microsoft Excel Accessibility Checker. It will guide you through making your document accessible.

Tips:

  • Specify column headers.
  • Do not use blank cells for formatting.
