Adaptive Release

"With adaptive release, instructors can create a set of rules to control how content is released to students in their courses. The rules may be related to availability, date and time, individual usernames, membership in course groups, review status of another item in the course, and Grade Center items such as scores, attempts, and calculated columns" (help.blackboard.com).

Blackboard

Instructors who are used to working in Moodle should note the difference between adaptive release behavior in Blackboard and Moodle. In Blackboard, the activities/folders that are set with adaptive release won't be visible to students until they meet the requirements set by the adaptive release as shown in the image below. When using the adaptive release, it is a good practice to let your students know ahead of time that they need to meet certain criteria in order to see certain activities.

The assignment is visible in the Editing mode and has a not below indicating that the Adaptive Release is enabled for this assignment. The screenshot below shows the student view of the same part of the module with this assignment no visible at all.

Moodle

In Moodle, Adaptive Reslease function is called "Restrict Access". The "restricted" activity is grayed out but is visible to students with the note describing the restriction as shown in the image below. If the whole module is "restricted" it won't be visible to students unless they meet the set requirements.
