We are the evolution of the legacy brand feelcbd. As a brand we are focused on curating experiences with broad spectrum CBD and other non-intoxicating rare cannabinoids.
We are a small team - including ownership and marketing, there are just 5 of us.
There was a huge adjustment coming from legacy to legal. In the legacy, there was no limitations on us getting a product to market. If we felt there was a consumer demand, we were able to pursue it. In the regulated space there are many more hurdles. First you need to find a manufacturing partner that can create a product that suits the vision we have. Second, you need to demonstrate to each individual province and territory that there is a demand for it. These are the challenges we have to overcome with our transition.
We anticipated the transition taking 3-6 months when we exited the legacy, it ended up taking 2 years.
On the sales side, we haven’t outsourced our efforts to an agency as most brands do. Although we are BC based, our team is out in Ontario and extremely hands-on. We’re visiting stores ourselves, meeting with dispensary owners, providing product knowledge and building the long lasting relationships we feel we need to build our brand.
We are used to being hands on from the legacy days and handling everything ourselves. We find this benefits us in the way that we stay in-tune with our consumers and retailers.
Our first product is our calm drops which is a sublingual tincture featuring a blend of 900mg CBD and 300mg CBG. We launched on the OCS on May 5th and we were sold out of our first allotment within a week. We use a broad spectrum - opposed to the isolate based products coming to market. Our tincture provides the consumer with the whole plant benefits -just without the THC.
Our products are hemp-derived -we use hemp as it is naturally closer to our end products (high CBD, low THC).
The natural hemp taste is complemented by our 18 blend of botanical terpenes, you’ll notice subtle notes of lavender, peppermint and vanilla.
We use sunflower oil because it is gentle on the stomach, doesn’t irritate the throat, and compliments the flavour profile of the 18 terpene blend. Additionally it is low in saturated fats and better for the environment. Those who have tried our product have given us positive feedback. They appreciate how it doesn’t leave that coated mouth feeling like alternative oils do.
We are one of the first products without a THC stop sign as we take the extra steps to completely remove the THC. Since there is no THC in our products, they aren’t intoxicating, meaning the are great for versatile use !
We’re working on expanding from Ontario into a national brand as quickly as possible. Currently we are in the process of finalizing discussions with some medical cannabis partners, which could really accelerate our ability to reach the national audience we are used to servicing.
We are constantly doing research into rare/minor cannabinoids to see how we can incorporate them into future products or even further refine the current experiences we have. We have developed terpene blends for both our rest and soothe experiences. We want our unique cannabinoid and terpene formulations to be available in many form factors as we grow.
A lot of these LP partners and even the provincial boards have a habit of relying on sales data to determine if something is viable or not. But the problem is there is no sales data when a brand hasn’t filled an empty gap. The provincial boards are also very conservative by nature as they have been stuck on the hook for a lot of product from LPs that didn’t sell well.
It has taken some time, but we are now starting to see legacy brands really making a mark on the industry, and many are dominating. We hope to see this trend continue.
