A cannabis sommelier is not your average weed snob. In fact, you may be surprised to hear that they aren’t supposed to be snobs at all. In fact, they are supposed to be humble guides who understand the science and culture of and how to apply this knowledge in the service of others.
CannaReps is the world’s oldest Cannabis Sommelier school and counts with the largest number of graduates. We have trained thousands of people to up their game by teaching them skills and lessons like those that you are about to read about.
Here is a short list of the attributes that you will walk away with if you choose to become certified in the craft of the cannabis sommelier.
No matter who you talk to, you will be able to build lasting bridges by showing your expertise in ways that are relatable to the specific person you are talking to.
Growers want to be spoken to in a certain way, but this may not be the same way that an academic talks and thinks about the plant. As a cannabis sommelier, you will learn the culture and language of all the different sub-cultures within the realm of cannabis with a focus on responsible and informed service.
The cannabis sommelier is trained to see, smell, feel and taste cannabis in order to obtain the first-hand sensory information that everyone wants to know, in a language that everyone can understand.
Actively studying product in a systematic way is at the core of the cannabis sommelier tool set, and at CannaReps provides you with the fundamental teachings to make your skills grow with every batch of cannabis that you get the chance to study.
It is impossible for one person to physically analyze and taste everything that's out there. The market is just too broad.
That’s why CannaReps focuses on helping our students build community with other cannabis sommeliers as well as the broader cannabis community, including retailers, growers and breeders.
Our weekly Study Hall Sessions (included in Level 1 and Level 2 training) provide the opportunity for our students to connect with others while building their skills and provides a career launching-pad for those looking to grow within their cannabis career.
Too many ‘cannabis educators’ are misleading the public and their colleagues in regards to how cannabis products should be selected and sold based on information sourced from internet echo-chambers and inconclusive research publications.
Learn to weigh scientific evidence for yourself in order to gain informed insights that can set you apart from the pack.
Yes, the most important thing that you will learn at CannaReps is to stay in the mindset of the eternal student regardless of how far you go.
Every student needs a mentor and sometimes in this life will find your mentors in places that you would not expect if you keep an open mind and your sources varied.
Community is the most important thing that CannaReps has built to this day. We cherish those who are just as an in love with this plant as we are and we learn from them everyday.
