Investigate and find information about a city (urban place) or/and a rural village you would like to know more about. Investigate and share your findings with the class. Using photos give us information such as:
Why you chose this place
Location, population, general characteristics, life expectancy, health, education, transport, sustainability, job opportunities, well-being, economic stability, weather, political situation, etc
Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of living in such a place and why you would or wouldn't live there.
Maybe specify the area where you would in these places or even the precise house or building and give reasons why.
eg. New York, Brooklyn, a penthouse. // India / Goa / on a beach house
1.- Describe the places you have chosen. Rural and Urban, include a description of the photos as well
2.- Specify where you would live, what you would do there and how you would get around (your own car, a tractor, subway, bicycle, etc...)
3.- Debate about the pros and cons of living in those places and try to convince each other that yours is better.
4.- Conclude
Debate about and try to convince each other that the place you chose is the ideal place to live.
Engage in interaction for at least one minute each.
Use the usual structures that enable debate in a suitable, educated and formal way
Dot not overextend your interventions but on the contrary make sure you facilitate and engage in conversation. Use structures like:
don't you think? don't you agree?
what is your opinion about this?
yes, that is very interesting and I see what you mean, but one must also take into account that...
that is a very interesting point of view but what about...
INFORMAL:
In my opinion I understand but... I see your point of view
On one hand... but on the other For one thing, for another...
What I mean is
let me think for a second
you're right but also...
let's agree to disagree
not in my opinion... (on the contrary)
I see what you mean but...
I get what you are saying
FORMAL:
In my opinion I understand but... I see your point of view
On one hand... but on the other
For one thing, for another...
One must take into account
it is common knowledge that...
I (strongly) agree/disagree with you
One may then come to the conclusion that...
Please accept my apologies
let's agree to disagree
it is widely acknowledged (believed) that...
based on the facts one may come to the conclusion that
not in my opinion... (on the contrary)
I think that's the wrong way to look at it
