Today me and logan were tasked with designing something practical for a coworker. We made a round cup holder with a place for her paintbrush to rest so it doesn't tip over.
We stared with a sketch and went down to measure the diameter of the bottom of the cup, the height of the cup and to see how big we should make our pltform.
We started with a 3inx3in square as our base, we inserted a hole that was 2.5in big to hold the cup in place, we raised our platform up about .5in. After that we made a pillar on the top right corner, the pillar is 2in tall and 0.06 wide. W then inserted a slant that went halfway down our piller to insure it would hold the paintbrush correctly.
We printed our tester and took it and made adjustments, she wanted the base to be more circular and have a floor and we needed to adjust our indent in the pillar to be more centered.
We went back into fusion 360 and recreated the part with a 3x3 circular base, a .8 floor in the bottom and we raised the platform to .58. We reprinted it and got our finished functional part.
