SHB30121 Certificate III in BEAUTY SERVICES reflects the role of individuals employed as beauticians to provide a range of beauty services including waxing, lash and brow, basic make-up and nail services. These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where discretion and judgement are required and are responsible for their own outputs. This includes client consultation on beauty products and services. Work is typically conducted in beauty, waxing, brow and nail salons. This course requires students to be practice clients for each other which includes having treatments on their face, hands and feet. It also includes being a practice beautician working on their peer's face, hands and feet. Students will need to bring in models throughout the year to complete practical assessments.
Year 1:
Students will be required to demonstrate their competency in the following units:
Maintain infection control standards
Design and apply make-up
Design and apply make-up for photography
Provide manicure and pedicure services
Greet and prepare clients for salon services
Apply safe hygiene, health and work practices
Year 2:
Students will be required to demonstrate their competency in the following units:
Provide lash and brow services
Apply eyelash extensions
Conduct salon financial transactions
Provide salon services to clients
Provide manicure and pedicure services
Use electric file equipment for nail services.
