Studying a VCE Science subject will provide students with an appropriate background in the understanding of science in everyday life. An important feature of undertaking a VCE science study is the opportunity for students to engage in a range of scientific investigation methodologies, to develop key science skills, and to interrogate the links between knowledge, theory, and practice. Students work collaboratively as well as independently on a range of scientific investigations involving controlled experiments, fieldwork, case studies, correlational studies, classification and identification, modelling, simulations, literature reviews, and the development of a product, process, or system.
In Year 11 and 12, there are a range of science subjects that students can choose to study at Marian College: VCE Biology, VCE Chemistry, VCE Environmental Science, VCE Physics and VCE Psychology. These subjects are complimented by many of the electives within the Year 9/10 program and are recommended for students who wish to pursue a pathway in science in the future.
Note:
All Year 9 and 10 subjects contribute to VCE pathways. The flowchart presents typical subject progressions that align with specific VCE Units.
