You can pick any insect for this project or make up your own
Your bug will include a head, a thorax, an abdomen, 3 sets of legs, a mouth, eyes, and a set of antennas
Insects have a chitinous exoskeleton, a three-part body(head, thorax and abdomen), three pairs of jointed legs, compound eyes and one pair of antennae. Insects are the most diverse group of animals; they include more than a million described species and represent more than half of all known living organisms
Here are the steps below:
You can pick any insect for this project or make up your own
Your bug will include a head, a thorax, an abdomen, 3 sets of legs, a mouth, eyes, and a set of antennas.
-Start with a pencil
-Once you have finished the insect outline it in black permanent marker or black crayon
-Add patterns and designs in your insect with a crayon
-Watercolor each part of your insect
-Water color the background a contrasting color to your insect
Start by drawing the head. It can be a circle or a half circle, or oval.
Add the thorax and the abdomen
Add a mouth and antennas. They should not be only one line, but two that connect at the top.
Now draw some eyes. Remember that the bug is looking forward, so the eyes shouldn't be on the top of the head
Add any details to the top of the shell.
Add legs
3 sets on each side. Notice on this bug one set is attached to the thorax and two to the abdomen.
Outline the bug in black sharpie or crayon/pastel.
Add patterns in each section with crayons or pastels.
Fill in small areas with crayons or pastels. You can choose to color in the legs.
Outline each section around the edges in color - notice the dark green.
Do this to all the sections.
Now get out your water colors.
Paint in each section with the color you choose.
Fill in all the sections and the legs if you haven't.
Paint the whole background in a color that contrasts or will make your bug stand out.
Here is an example of another bug form:
Start with the head
Add the thorax
And the abdomen
Now the mouth and antenna.
Draw the eyes at the front of the head as if they are looking forward.
Now 3 sets of legs. Notice how all of the legs are attached to the thorax on this one.
