SCENE STEALER is a 45 minute escape room experience collaboratively created by a class of 20 students where players hired by Martin Scorsese are tasked to steal a prized Oscar from another undeserving filmmaker under the ruse of being cast in a heist movie he is directing.
As a puzzle designer my responsibilities:
Create a compilation style puzzle involving players to search through the room collecting various different alcohol bottles that connected to coasters which gave riddles to the player to unlock a 4 digit number lock.
Design, program, and decorate a light sensor based puzzle where players must shoot three targets around the room with a 3d printed and soldered laser gun which then displayed a code for a safe in the room.
Collaborate with other puzzle designers to make sure each puzzle allowed a seamless flow throughout the entire escape room experience.
Design puzzles that were rewarding for players to solve but also pertained to the overall narrative the escape room was trying to convey.
Facilitate multiple playtests of the room to allow for meaningful feedback to iterate and perfect puzzle designs.
