 Living With Germs

  • Since most of us MGers are immunocompromised (because we take immunosuppressants such as Prednisone, Azathioprine, Mycophenolate Mofetil, Methotrexate, Cyclosporine, and Tacrolimus) we must be vigilant about not catching, among other things, airborne diseases.  This new and informative article from NIH has lots of great info on this subject.

  • Immunosuppressants compromise our immune systems and put us at greater risk of infections and diseases.  To protect against illness, including from non-airborne sources, there are other things you should consider avoiding.  What Not to Do When You're Immunocompromised, an article from WebMD, highlights common sources that you might not have considered.

  • Let Brown Noise Hack Your Brain (Valetmag.com) I started using brown noise for sleeping about 1 year ago and have increased my average sleep time by about 1 hour(!). There are many choices (on Amazon). I bought this one. This Article (InsideHook) explains the origin and uses of these types of therapeutic noises. MGers who have developed difficulties with getting enough sleep (due to side effects of various MG drugs, for example) might want to consider trying this type of audio therapy. I know it's been a godsend for me. (Mike Stabile)

  • In a recent Conquer MG virtual meeting a participant mentioned a prescription eye drop called Upneeq which is made for ptosis (drooping eyelid), a common MG symptom. Google search did not reveal any clinical trials with MG subjects, however a review (PubMed) of two MG patients' case studies did describe significant improvement in ptosis. (Mike Stabile)
