From MGFA:
"MGFA is excited to announce the launch of the new MGFA Helpline. The helpline is staffed by experienced counselors who are available to answer your questions about living with myasthenia gravis, provide emotional support, and guide you to resources.
Call 1-833-647-8764 (1-833-MGSTRNG) Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern Time to be connected to a counselor.
“People often call the MGFA looking for resources,” says Samantha Masterson, MGFA president and CEO. “The new MGFA Helpline will ensure we’re ready to answer these questions in a very comprehensive and thoughtful way.”
While you are all #MGStrong, sometimes you might need to call 1-833-MGSTRNG –whether you have a question or just need someone to listen.
Our helpline staff are certified counselors, and while they can’t provide medical advice (only a treating provider should do that), they can direct you to the information and resources you need. This might include connecting you to the right support group, helping you find a neuromuscular specialist in your area, or recommending support resources for your specific needs.
You can still call the MGFA’s main phone number if you have a question about an MGFA program, want to get involved, need a specific MGFA resource, or would like to make a gift. Our office phone will continue to be answered from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern, and you can email us any time at mgfa@myasthenia.org.
As noted, initially the MGFA Helpline will operate between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern on weekdays. Over the next several months, additional hours may be added. You can check the MGFA website for more information.
We are thrilled to bring you this much-needed resource and look forward to your feedback. Please feel free to share your thoughts with us at mgfa@myasthenia.org as you begin to use this resource."
