The SMC community database was an idea that was started by the admins on the Spore Modding Community server. We had a channel in there dedicated to unused spore content and similar, #spore-scavenging.

However a lot of users posting all sorts of things in one Discord channel became very disorganised. When it started to become big enough that duplicates were being posted as well as new things all willy-nilly... we needed a solution. After some discussion, we decided to make a Google Sites page in order to better document the findings posted there, in a more organised fashion.

This is why you see some pictures posted in our site with descriptions, and some without. This is by no means a professional documentation site, nor have we ever claimed it to be one... but merely a hub to post all the things that have been put in our Discord for easy finding for our members. We have made it a bit bigger and added stuff from other sources as well. Now that the site is open to contributors, we hope that all the users in the Spore community that are truly passionate enough will help add their findings as we continue to dig deeper into the code of the game.

We are aware that there might be other sites out there that do this better. And that is fine.. but this is simply another site that will host stuff our server members and others have found, and wish to share. Moreover, this is also yet another documentation site.. meaning if one goes down, at least this one is still around.
