Dear prospective student.
Philosophy is supposed to be unsettling; a profound, complex intellectual journey. I’m glad you’ve chosen to investigate A Level Philosophy, and the discipline itself – which, by now I’m sure you know means A Love of Wisdom. It means seeking truths, finding logical and methodical ways to interrogate the world, and to ask the questions of What do we know? And, How should we live? Plato and Socrates imagined themselves as inventors of new and demanding ideas which would change the world; Aristotle as a scientist, seeking truth by examining the natural world. Whatever route to truth you take, I hope these resources help you along the gradual, steady process of approaching A Level Philosophy. Don’t rush anything – Plato imagined your and my Philosophy journeys should take around 60 years – so it’s good that you’re starting this today.”
