Dear Student,

Thank you for choosing to study A Level Geography at The Langton. With the breadth and relevance of geography to today’s complex and globalised world, we are sure you will find it a highly rewarding programme and we look forward to working with you to fulfil your potential.

The aim of this transition work is to give you an idea of what you will study, and allow you to prepare for the types of tasks and exam-style questions you will be expected to complete over the next two years.

The four topics studied in Year 12 are as follows, and these will be covered in separate tasks:

Week 1: Tectonic processes and hazards

Week 2: Coastal landscapes and change

Week 3: Globalisation

Week 4: Regenerating places.

These are unusual times so we would appreciate your serious effort with these tasks, ensuring that you spend sufficient time to learn the content. Many tasks will require some recall from GCSE, but you will find that they can be easily researched using internet sources. Try to use specialist geographical terminology throughout, and refer to theories and concepts where appropriate.
