Welcome to the Chemistry department,

We have put together a series of four tasks which will enable you to revise the most important aspects of GCSE Chemistry and so prepare you for studying A-level Chemistry at the Langton.

You should complete each task using your GCSE notes and textbook/revision guide. If you do not have these you can access a variety of online resources such as my-GCSEscience.com (if you have a subscription) and other free online resources such as freesciencelessons.co.uk (You Tube) and knockhardy.org.uk for a range of powerpoints, notes and worksheets.

Don’t worry if you haven’t studied some of the topics at GCSE as different exam boards have different subject content. Just make a note of what you haven’t done and be sure to ask for help when we start the course.

In each of the tasks you will be revising the following topics from the AQA specification:

Task 1

Topic 1 Atomic structure and the periodic table and Topic 2 Bonding, structure and the properties of matter

Task 2

Topic 3 Quantitative chemistry and Topic 4 Chemical changes

Task 3

Topic 5 Energy changes and Topic 6 The rate and extent of chemical change

Task 4

Topic 7 Organic chemistry and Topic 8 Chemical analysis
