In the recent QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 for Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering, my current home, MIT, where I work as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MITMECHE), is ranked 1st. I look forward to continuing to contribute to this wonderful community! MIT also ranked overall
At the same time, my alma mater and former employer, the University of Cambridge, continues to hold official External Collaborator status and has ranked 4th in the world. Congratulations to my colleagues from the Institute of Manufacturing (IfM) and the larger Engineering Department!

We won the Most Impactful Poster at MERE 2026: Mechanical Engineering Research Exhibition, Mechanical Engineering Department, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), for our work on smartphone-based robotic teleoperation. This work includes the collaborative efforts of multiple researchers (Rolando, Ziling, Stella, and John) and students (Zac and Neeraj), with Rolando being the main person/presenter behind it.

We were among 8 teams from ~45 internal MIT teams who won funding bestowed by MIT's 2025 Initiative for New Manufacturing call for proposals on AI and Automation in manufacturing. Our successful proposal was titled "Scaling Expert Performance: Agentic Human-AI Teaming for Smart Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement," with Dr. John Liu, head of the LEAP Group, and Assistant Prof. Andreea Babu serving as the PI and Co-PI, respectively.

Former MPhil student at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), Zachary Baylis, obtained a distinction and a final grade of 83% for his thesis, ranking first overall in his MPhil ISMM cohort! Congratulations, Zac!
Zac carried out his thesis project under my supervision, as part of a collaboration between the Cyber-Human Lab (CHL) in Cambridge and the MIT Learning Engineering Practice (LEAP) Group.

Dr Tim J. Schoonbeek, a former visitor to Cyber-Human Lab (CHL) in Cambridge, has successfully defended his thesis entitled "Automated support for operators executing industrial procedures through visual analysis of data from head-mounted displays." The research he conducted at CHL formed part of his doctoral thesis. I had the pleasure of becoming an advisory member of his doctoral committee. Well done, Doctor Schoonbeek!

I had the great pleasure and fun of visiting ASML HQ at Eindhoven, NL, and seeing their Experience Centre and Exhibition. Plenty of interesting discussion, thanks to my host, Dr Jacek Kustra, with whom we had the chance to talk on the future of chip production. What an amazing place to see!

Our paper, titled "Mapping of the Digital Twin Design Process Landscape: The Results of a Domain-Expert Visual Qualitative Study," has been accepted for publication in the Research in Engineering Design journal! The paper presents the results of 19 expert approaches to designing and developing digital twins, organized into a comprehensive design process.

Our paper, based on Adya Hegde's ISMM MPhil thesis, has been accepted for inclusion in the 4th International Workshop on XR Solutions for Smart Production (XR-SPro 2025) at the IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality Adjunct (ISMAR-Adjunct) 2025.
This also marks the first paper I have co-authored since joining MIT.

We had a visit from the CEO, Łukasz Antczak, and CTO, Jakub Bartoszek, from the MAB Robotics startup, who visited Boston to become the recipients of the 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award by The Robot Report for their work on the Honey Badger quadruped robot, known for its ability to operate underwater and in extreme environments.

MIT, where I will soon start my Postdoctoral Associateship in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MITMECHE), placed 1st. I look forward to the beginning of my work with my new Team.
At the same time, huge congratulations to my colleagues at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) of NTU Singapore, which I had the pleasure to visit last January, who moved to 4th place this year. What an achievement!

Our research on AR evaluation in industrial settings has been nominated for the best paper award at the prestigious IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR 2024).
This year, the IEEE ISMAR 2024 TVCG track had a reported acceptance rate of 16%.

Dr Thomas Bohné and I received the CUED-Mathworks Small Grant to collaborate with Prof Przemysław Korantowski from the Aerial Robotic Systems Lab at Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) on Using Augmented Reality for Guiding Assembly of Reconfigurable Multicopter System Delivering Parcels. The grant will allow us to support one UROP internship at Cyber-Human Lab (CHL) over summer 2024.

Dr Thomas Bohné and I received the Engineering for Clinical Practice grant for the Enabling Robotic Surgery Training with Augmented Reality project, which will be realised in collaboration with Prof Fulvio Forni from Control Lab and medics from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Mr Adam Peryt, MD and Dr Emilia Świetlik, MD.
