Overall there are a lot of important standards that teachers, school admin, parents, and specialist leaders need to look out for in order to provide a national standard art education accessible to all students from pre-k to 12th grade. The teachers need to have appropriate planning and scheduling of lessons, materials and budgeting for classroom supplies. They need to be adaptive to student needs, and social, technological changes that have been happening really fast now. They need to set up and prepare for each class in advance and plan for future fieldtrips, artist visits, and students with special needs.
At the organizational level, there needs to be enough classrooms for the number of students with appropriate number and size of table, chair and storage area for materials. There should be 2D, 3D, and media studio rooms with enough space for all students. All students receive art education across pre-k-12 so they are prepared for the visual world. Teachers can balance, work, life, and professional developement needs are met. Teachers have opportunity to participate in professional confrences and attend workshops for interdisciplinary engagement with other teachers or colleagues. There is at least one experienced art teacher designated as art leader/admin for each school. All of these requirements are supported both in human resources and budget allocation by the school, county, and state government to ensure inclusive, safe and innovative art education is developed for all across the nation.
After Looking at the requirements for defferent levels across different aspects of art education I was really overwhelmed and I tried emptying my mind out by makin a word cloud about core standards. I then tried to organize them on the next page around a fast moving clock into two groups of teacher and student related requirements. My main take away is that there is so much that an art educator needs to provide quality education to their students and this is only possible through an organized system where proper professional developement, planning, communication, and support by school and state through budgeting and organizational revisions by leaders are appropriately allocated.
