For My first sketchbook spread, I made a visual response to the reading "Dressing Up" which discussed the role of our clothing and the role it plays as a part of expressing our identity among other markers. Through this response, I explored two facets, one is my external dress on the left and the right page includes my internal and intangible dresses such as different emotions, and states of minds such as being curious and investigative even when you are tired. I think these emotions are really crucial for being a great art teacher. It is important to stay curious about not just your craft but also to stay curious about your students and their momentary and spontenous feelings because it can have such a strong effect on them as a person and as a student. I also included a sun and growing plant with the text "I am...Still Blooming..." because while I may be a sunshine giving person for the people around me including to my students, I am still a very young and inexperienced person on this journey of life. So I too, need a lot of care, love, and patience to continue to flourish.

I had not realized that my first spread would be a mix of two different papers and the perfectionist in me was having an OCD fit so to get rid of the difference of the paper designs I unified them with a wash of teal soft pastel. I then thought about organizing myself into external and internal visual symbols/Markers. My favorite part of the drawing was adding comments and titles that guided my drawing and ideas that came up to me like a cloud passing by in response to the previous marks, almost like having a one on one conversation. the overall consistency of the style subject matter really surprised me by the end. For example I had drawn the sun and the plant separately and for different reasons but in the end they all seemed like a part of the same composition.
