Airsoft is like paintball - without the mess. Airsoft guns are designed to look almost identical to their "real steel" counterparts, but shoot a 6mm cornstarch bb that feels like a slight pinch upon impact.
Local rules typically peg the maximum velocity at under 400 feet per second based on .20 gram bb carrying energy under 1.5 joules. Some types of play, like snipers, will go up to 2 joules. Because of the bb's size and speed, players are REQUIRED to wear eye protection rated for multiple high impacts (ANSI Z87.1+).
We use a ruleset that provides minimum engagement distances so everybody has good, safe, fun. The gameplay ranges from multi-day military simulations to short and fast close quarters battles (CQB).
Ghost Cartel specializes in promoting the shorter style of airsoft match. We cater to a clientele that prefers a main game lasting about an hour, usually an objective role-playing game, followed by multiple mini-games like team death match, king of the castle, or attack defend.
Although you will see most players wearing camouflage clothing, some go for exact replicas of their military counterparts, all that's required is suitable clothing, good footwear, and a willingness to get shot - along with shooting others.
Most important to remember is that airsoft is a sport of honour. We don't use any electronic "tag" devices so players are expected to raise their weapon and call their hits. When everybody plays by this rule is when you'll hear the most laughter!
