My heart is broken.

In one fell swoop our sport has been placed at risk of not just being terminated, but of also turning all of us into criminals.

Ghost Cartel had just introduced a program to bring new types of players into airsoft, to show them the fun and entertainment of meeting new people and making new friends. We helped Brian Hatfield get his field, the only field in Halifax, operational. We had already placed our two international events on hold to 2022 because of the global 14-day quarantine.

Who would have thought our own government would eliminate everything we've done and everything we had left to do?

Look, we've been all over C-21. Just like C-71 it's going to be passed as an Order in Council.

This government doesn't care about petitions, emails, protests, or letters. The petition opposing C-71 had the highest number of signatures in history, yet it was pushed through, no debate.

C-21 amends language that is legally impossible to refute - Resembles is an extremely powerful word ESPECIALLY when the high point of our fun is realism without threat.

As businesses and players, how do we attract people to a sport where you risk jail for playing? How do we rent or sell our toys when even having them makes them targets for seizure?

I hope C-21 gets walked back and re-drafted. I would be happy with an amendment that expressly mentions airsoft toys and rules instead of the previously clouded language that allowed CBSA to willy nilly seize and reject airsoft accessories.

Maybe the government needs to re-visit the entire schema involving "replicas" as prohibited?

Our airsoft toys "look like" real guns so being flagged as prohibited we cannot do anything with them!

And who decides what "resembles" a real gun?

The police.

The same police who are supposed to be catching real criminals with real illegal guns are going going to fight crime by wasting time and resources seizing my airsoft?

And if one of them is in a bad mood, they can decide on the spot what "looks like" a real gun the same way they've been adding to the original prohibited list on C-71.

I mean, I get the government is trying to curb gun crime, but like our real steel brethren, it's not legitimate owners out there shooting people!

Suiting up and role playing on the weekend is NOT the same thing as playing stick up. Right?

Hey, my motivation now is to make certain this government gets replaced.
