Element B
Teachers use formal and informal methods to assess student learning, provide feedback, and use results to inform planning and instruction.
This lesson requires written and verbal assessments from students that are both formal and informal in nature. It shows my knowledge of the levels of learning and assessment that are crucial to student success.
Data reflection: This data was collected from before and after a lesson on using sensory details in narrative writing. In pre-teaching noticed that a lot of the ELL students were struggling to understand that figurative language is not true and is instead describing something. During the lesson I had them actually touching and tasting the objects they were supposed to be describing. This helped them understand the language better.
Element C
Teachers integrate and utilize appropriate available technology to engage students in authentic learning experiences.
My portfolio from my educational technologies class has numerous examples of ways I have implemented technology in the classroom. It is incredibly important to understand and include various technology based practices in the classroom in order for our students to get the most valuable experience within the modern classroom.
Element D
Teachers establish and communicate high expectations and use processes to support the development of critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Element E
