During our 4th and final field experience semester aka Student Teaching, teacher candidates are required to complete 16 weeks in the classroom with 10, or more, of those weeks taking on most of the full-time teaching responsibilities. While at PHMS I worked with my teacher's plans to create lessons of my own, teach most of the class periods, assist with small group and individual work time, and took on a large portion of the grading responsibilities. We are also required to attend and log 15 hours over multiple professional development sessions. In addition to this, I attended many school functions, ate lunch with the other teachers, and joined in on activities outside of school like fundraisers in the community and recreational time with the other teachers playing pickleball. I believe this extra effort is what secured me a job at this school 45 minutes after interviewing!
