Why are position descriptions important?
Position descriptions matter because they clearly set expectations about a role’s purpose, responsibilities, and boundaries. They help employees understand what they’re accountable for and how success will be measured. For employers, they support fair recruitment, performance management, and workload allocation. They also reduce risk by clarifying classification, pay alignment, and compliance with awards and workplace laws.
