I visited Rocklea station on 4 September 2018.
Rocklea is located on the Beenleigh Line and is served by all train services travelling from Beenleigh and Coopers Plains to Bowen Hills with many continuing to Ferny Grove. Rocklea is located 11.8 km from Roma Street and the approximate travel time is 22 minutes.
Rocklea is situated in zone 2 meaning the fares between Rocklea and Roma Street are:
Rocklea station opened in 1885 at the same time as the line. In September 1930, the standard gauge for the interstate line opened. The line was duplicated between 1950 and 1952 from Yeerongpilly to Kuraby. On 18 September 1982, the line was electrified from Roma Street to Kingston. In 1996, as part of the construction of the Gold Coast line, the standard gauge was converted to dual gauge.
Rocklea was named after the Rocky Water Holes that are in the area.
Rocklea station has two platforms consisting of two side platforms. Platform 1 is used for outbound services and platform 2 is used for inbound services. To the west of the station is the dual gauge track for services to and from Sydney and the Gold Coast.
Rocklea station has two station entrances. One is from the walkway to Railway Parade and one is from the carpark on the corner of Brooke Street and Pegg Road.
Rocklea station doesn’t have any disability access.
There is a bus stop nearby on Brooke Street. The route that serves Rocklea is route 116.
