Moorooka station opened in 1887. In September 1930, the standard the interstate line opened. The line was duplicated between 1950 and 1952 from Yeerongpilly to Kuraby. On 18 September 1982, the line was electrified from Roma Street to Kingston. In 1996, as part of the construction of the Gold Coast line, the standard gauge was converted to dual gauge.
Moorooka station was named after the homonymous suburb of Moorooka which was named after the local aboriginal word meaning iron bark.
Moorooka station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is used for outbound services and platform 2 is used for inbound services. To the west of the station is the Clapham goods railway station and the dual gauge track for services to and from Sydney and the Gold Coast.
Moorooka station has two station entrances. One is from the walkway to Railway Parade and one is from the carpark on the corner of Brooke Street and Pegg Road.
Moorooka station doesn’t have any disability access.
There are bus stops nearby on Ipswich Road. The routes that serve Moorooka are routes 100, 116 and N100.
